It began as Autogen-Gas-Akkumulator-AG, a subsidiary of the Swedish company Aktiebolaget Gasaccumulator, in 1909. In 1920, the company rebranded as AGA and continued operations simultaneously with its gas-related activities. Between 1920 and 1924, the Swedish company Thulin produced approximately one hundred cars under license for AGA. The company built several car models, including the Typ A and Typ C, both with four-cylinder engines. The Typ C included improvements such as four-wheel brakes and increased power output. Production ceased in 1929, with a total of between eight thousand and twelve thousand vehicles manufactured. AGA participated in racing events, including the 1924 Targa Florio and the 1926 German Grand Prix.
