It began as the Standard Wheel Company of Terre Haute in 1903 and evolved through several iterations, including Willys-Overland Motors and Kaiser-Jeep Corporation. In 1970, American Motors Corporation (AMC) acquired Jeep Corporation, and in 2004, KPS Capital Partners acquired the company. AM General is best known for producing the civilian Hummer and the military Humvee, initially developed for the U.S. Army during World War II. From 1974 to 1979, the company manufactured transit buses, producing over 5,400 units. The Humvee has been in continuous production since 1983, with over 250,000 units delivered to the U.S. and numerous other nations by 2015. AM General has also produced a variety of military vehicles, including the M151, M35, and M809 series trucks. In 2023, AM General was awarded a significant contract to produce JLTV vehicles for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, though Oshkosh Corporation initially won the initial contract. Currently, AM General is collaborating with Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited to develop and supply artillery cannons for the U.S. Army’s Mobile Tactical Cannon program.","https://www.amgeneral.com/","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AM_General","https://www.facebook.com/AMGeneral/","https://www.instagram.com/amgeneral_llc/","https://www.youtube.com/@AMGeneral_LLC","https://x.com/AMGeneral_LLC","https://www.linkedin.com/company/am-general/
"b06fd4a0-e9bf-4659-91c0-a0a11f0a1eff","image/png","2025-05-15T20:40:52.730Z",800
"606156d6-ab31-4e9d-9d11-ac5da1c7f505","United States","united-states","north_america",39.7837304,-100.445882
"88b9c260-8cc8-4632-bec8-8c9d3f3957ac","image/svg+xml","2025-05-15T20:28:10.101Z",[],[],[],[],[
98756,0,[]]
