Production concluded in 1972 following a 20-year agreement. The company’s cars were raced extensively, winning National Championships in various SCCA classes and setting land speed records. Later attempts to revive the marque involved BMW’s ‘Project Warwick’ and ‘Project Tempest’, both of which ultimately failed due to rights issues. In 2005, Nanjing Automobile Group acquired the Austin name and collaborated with GB Sports Car to produce Austin-Healey branded cars, though this project was later abandoned.
