The company became Europe’s largest producer of infant buggies by the 1930s and was a leading bicycle manufacturer. Production of automobiles began in 1908, with series production commencing in 1919. Brennabor employed approximately 6,000 people by 1924 and was Germany’s second-largest car producer behind Opel in 1927\u002F28. The company formed a tripartite alliance with NAG and Hansa-Lloyd in 1919, which lasted until 1928. Brennabor pioneered US-style production line techniques in the early 1920s, but lacked a small car model to compete with Opel. Production ceased in 1933 and the company continued as a component and motorcycle manufacturer until 1945, when it was dismantled due to Soviet occupation. Following World War II, the factory site was used for a heavy tractor factory until the 1960s.
