The company rebranded as Pure Mobility AS and later declared bankruptcy in 2011, with production ceasing in 2013. Buddy Electric was owned by Jan-Petter Skram, Viggo Vargum, and external investors including Hafslund Venture AS and Gezina AS. The Buddy was classified as a heavy quadricycle in the EU, allowing drivers to use it without a standard driver’s license. The Buddy featured a steel tube frame, fiberglass body (later polymer pDCPD), and a 72V Sepex motor. Battery options included lead-acid (50–100 km range) and lithium-ion (up to 150 km range). The Buddy appeared in the films *Downsizing* and *1001 Grams*.
