In 1985, Cagiva purchased Ducati, retaining the brand for sale outside of Italy. Later, it acquired Moto Morini and MV Agusta trademarks. In 1996, Cagiva was sold to the Texas Pacific Group, and Ducati and Moto Morini were subsequently transferred. In 2008, Harley-Davidson regained control of the Aermacchi factory after buying MV Agusta.
