Following its closure as a vehicle manufacturer, Checker transitioned to providing automotive parts and stampings for Detroit-area manufacturers, including General Motors. In 2009, Checker Motors Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to declining sales and labor negotiations.
