Durant Motors initially achieved success due to Durant’s experience at General Motors, but sales declined by 1929. Production ceased in August 1931 and the company went into liquidation in 1933. The company’s manufacturing plants included facilities in Lansing, Flint, Oakland and Leaside. Durant Motors outsourced coachwork to several companies including Locke & Co., Associated Bodies Corp., and Wilson Motor Bodies Ltd. After its closure, the Lansing plant was acquired by General Motors and used for Fisher Body Division production. The Flint plant became a Buick body factory, and the Oakland plant was converted into a General Motors parts warehouse.
