Alfio Russo and his son Giuseppe founded the company in Belo Horizonte. The name Farus derived from ‘FAmilia RUSso’. Initially, the company produced mid-engine sports cars, including the ML and TS models. These vehicles utilized engines sourced from Volkswagen do Brasil or Fiat Automóveis. The ML 929 used a 1.3-liter, single overhead cam engine from the Fiat Spazio TR and Uno SX (72 PS). The TS 1.6, introduced in 1981, employed a 1.6-liter engine from the Volkswagen Passat TS (80 PS). The company later introduced the Beta model in 1984, based on the TS 1.6 engine and later fitted with Chevrolet Monza engines (2.0 liters). A convertible version of the Beta was also offered. In 1987, a Farus Beta/Spider with a Chrysler 2.2-liter ‘Turbo I’ engine was intended for the US market, receiving 1,500 reservations. The company changed its name to TECVAN in 1990 and ceased operations due to market liberalization policies. The Quadro, a four-seater built on Volkswagen Santana underpinnings, was produced from 1989 to 1990.","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farus
"377b7774-f4a1-4da2-9fe1-3207ca27698a","image/svg+xml","2026-08-04T20:43:43.128Z",800
"296b2799-a639-43d8-a477-df401289fd6c","Brazil","brazil","south_america",-10.3333333,-53.2
"a1c83230-3b76-4552-8cce-6f83360e7284","2025-05-15T20:23:35.580Z",[],[],[],[],[]]
