Following World War II, FNM shifted its focus to vehicle manufacturing, starting with licensed production of Italian Isotta Fraschini trucks in 1949. In 1952, an agreement was established with Alfa Romeo, leading to the production of Alfa Romeo commercial vehicles under license in Brazil. FNM built over 15,000 trucks between 1956 and 1960. In 1968, Alfa Romeo acquired a controlling share in FNM, and the company began producing its own passenger cars, starting with the FNM 2000 in 1960. The FNM 2150 followed, and later the Alfa Romeo 2300. By 1986, Alfa Romeo transferred FNM to Fiat, and the Brazilian operations were integrated into Fiat’s Brazilian division.
