Joseph W. Frazer, a long-time executive at Kaiser-Frazer, named the line after himself and served as president during its production. Howard Darrin and other Kaiser-Frazer stylists developed the car’s designs, which earned a Gold Medal from the Fashion Academy of New York. Production began in 1946, and the first Frazer models debuted in June of that year. The company used a single four-door sedan body shell, shared with the lower-priced Kaiser model. The Frazer utilized Continental Red Seal 226 CID engines, which reached 115 horsepower by the end of production. The Manhattan Series F47C was introduced in 1947 as a premium model, priced $500 above the original F-47. Sales totaled approximately 1.5% of all American cars built in 1948. The 1951 Frazer models included a convertible, a hardtop sedan, and the Vagabond hatchback.
