Initially, the company produced single-cylinder motorcycles with a belt drive. From 1969, it became part of the Piaggio group. Gilera focused on racing throughout its history, developing machines such as the CNA Rondine in 1935. After World War II, Gilera dominated Grand Prix motorcycle racing for eight years, winning the 500 cc championship six times. In 1957, the company withdrew from competition due to declining sales and a cost-cutting agreement with other Italian manufacturers. In 1963, Gilera revived its racing program using updated technology and saw success with riders Phil Read and John Hartle. The four-cylinder Gilera engine was also used successfully in sidecar racing, achieving eight victories and four runner-up positions in the world championship between 1949 and 1952. Production of motorcycles bearing the Gilera name is now carried out by Piaggio in Pontedera.","https://www.gilera.com","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilera","https://www.facebook.com/gilera.official/
"b19c7ea7-d8cc-4578-bf16-c2bdf7b4b855","image/png","2025-05-16T21:26:47.255Z",800
"5d400bd1-7d3c-4856-b743-c1d97f768ed2","Italy","italy","europe",42.6384261,12.674297
"6a3b35e7-d693-4dc8-9664-7129d2a4765e","image/svg+xml","2025-05-15T20:25:12.004Z",[35
"e278407a-a553-4bec-be4d-8c229e731705","Giuseppe Gilera","giuseppe-gilera","1887-12-21","1971-11-20","Zelo Buon Persico
"1d9974a1-1960-4ce9-901c-e8d920490353","2026-03-20T17:41:25.620Z",512
[50
[56
"ab38fb51-2c05-48c0-ada7-623ac8aee0fa","Piaggio","piaggio",1940,43.6634536,10.6354851
"7a72a351-57ca-43ab-95b6-25579bfce4d3","2025-05-16T22:03:06.114Z
[],[],[
98756,0,[]]
