It began as Hurtu, Hautin et Diligeon in 1880, initially producing sewing machines. The company expanded its product line to include machine tools and bicycles. In 1896, Hurtu produced its first car, a licensed version of the Leon Bollée tricar. Diligeon et Cie continued to manufacture cars and bicycles.\n\nThe company reorganized in 1899 as the Compagnie des Automobiles et Cycles Hurtu. They produced a range of vehicles, including cars based on designs from Leon Bollée and Benz. Production increased to approximately 600 cars in 1913, primarily four-cylinder models.
