Companies associated with IFA included Barkas, EMW (producing Wartburg cars), IWL, MZ, Multicar, Robur, and Sachsenring (making Trabant cars). Vehicle production began with designs based on pre-war DKW models. The F8 and F9 cars were produced in the former Horch factory in Zwickau. Production of these vehicles ceased in 1956, with the IFA badge removed from cars.
