It evolved from the Walter Automobile Company and produced a range of cars including touring cars, speedsters, and toy tonneaus. The company utilized four-cylinder L-head engines throughout much of its production. In 1910, the Type 35 Raceabout was introduced, designed for racing and achieving considerable success in early races. The T-head engine powered all Mercers until 1914. Production ceased in 1924, with a final number of vehicles built reaching 12,893.
