In 1969, Reliant acquired Bond Cars to expand its market share. Reliant focused on a niche market of three-wheeled vehicles, primarily targeting motorcyclists. After a period of ownership changes and restructuring, including the acquisition of Hodge Group and later Nash family ownership, Reliant transitioned to importing Ligier microcars and Piaggio Ape three-wheelers in 1997, ending car production in 2001.
