The CitiCar was a small, wedge-shaped electric vehicle with three models: SV-36 (2.5 hp), SV-48 (3.5 hp), and the 1976 1\u002F2 Transitional model (6 hp). Production reached approximately 4,444 units by 1979. Commuter Vehicles, Inc. acquired the CitiCar design in 1979 and produced a similar vehicle, the Comuta-Car and Comuta-Van, from 1979 to 1982. The CitiCar featured a space frame constructed from aluminum and ABS plastic, with leaf spring suspension and top speeds of approximately 30-50 mph. Early models had basic features, while later versions incorporated improvements such as electric defrosters, self-canceling turn signals, and upgraded brakes. Serial numbers on CitiCars ranged from 1001 to 2998, with Comuta-Cars utilizing a separate serial number sequence ending in ‘A’. Some vehicles were sold as home assembly kits after 1984.
