Initially named Bonneville Coventry Ltd, it revived the Triumph brand lineage established in 1902. In 1985, Triumph began building its own motorcycles at a new factory in Hinckley, Leicestershire, after adopting Japanese manufacturing techniques. The company invested heavily between 1983 and 2000, reaching £70 to £100 million. Triumph expanded its operations globally, establishing distribution networks in Europe and America. A fire destroyed a significant portion of the Hinckley factory in 2002, but the company rebuilt and continued production. In 2002, Triumph began construction of a sub-assembly facility in Thailand and later another factory in 2006. In 2017, Triumph partnered with Bajaj to produce smaller capacity motorcycles for developing markets and began producing the TF 250-X motocross bike. In 2018, Triumph introduced its Factory Custom line of limited-edition motorcycles. As of 2023, Triumph supplies engines to the FIM Moto2 World Championship.
