The Viking was priced higher than its parent make, Oldsmobile. It served as the senior luxury sedan for Oldsmobile before being replaced by the Oldsmobile L-Series. Viking utilized a 125 inch (3,175 mm) wheelbase and employed steel semi-elliptic springs. The vehicles were powered by a 260 cubic inch (4.3 L) flathead monobloc V8 engine, the first automobile to use this design. This engine was later adapted for Cadillac and LaSalle. Viking models included a convertible coupé with a rear deck seat, a 4-door sedan, and a close-coupled 4-door sedan. Production numbers for 1929 were 4,058 units and 2,813 for 1930.
