WM Motor received investment from Chinese technology companies Baidu and Tencent. The company constructed a second manufacturing facility in Huanggang, Hubei Province, in January 2018. In spring 2021, WM Motor added the W6 and M7 models to its range. In October 2023, WM Motor filed for pre-restructuring bankruptcy due to financial difficulties. Production of existing models ceased at the end of 2022, and sales support was discontinued. In September 2025, a new owner became the restructuring investor and shareholder of WM Motor.
